Pear Shape diamond : pur and colorless
D exceptional white+ and IF Internally Flawless
A perfectly colourless (D) and perfectly pure (IF) diamond weighing more than 100 carats sets a new auction record!
"23 million francs ($23.5 million). This is your last chance. 23 million, sold!", declared the auctioneer and head of the Jewellery department at Christie's, François Curiel, on Wednesday 15 May 2013, in front of nearly 150 people in a luxury hotel in Geneva. This sealed the record sale of a pure (IF) and colourless (D) pear-shaped diamond weighing 101.73 carats.

As this was the first time this diamond was put up for auction, its purchaser had the privilege of naming it "Harry Legacy". Why this name? Simply because the buyer is none other than the famous American diamond dealer Harry Winston, making his first major purchase since its takeover in January by the Swiss watchmaker Swatch Group.
Extracted from the Jwaheng mine in Botswana, the diamond weighed 236 carats in its rough state before being cut into a pear-shaped diamond. It took 21 months to get it to its current pear shape of 4.1cm long and 2.5cm wide.
Certified, it has achieved a colour classification of "D" (the best possible colour for a diamond) and a clarity classification of "IF" (the best possible purity for a diamond). In this category, the world champion is the 530.20 carat Cullinan I, which is one of the British Crown Jewels and is on public display at the Tower of London.
